Happy Holidays with Newton’s Nook Designs

Hey everyone! It’s Laura here and today I am here with a card that I made for the Newton’s Nook Designs blog. I am thrilled to be a guest designer for them this month and to be sharing a card made with their adorable Holiday Smooches set. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to film a video showing how I made this card since it was very dark outside (I don’t have artificial lighting for filming) and since I had to do some studying. However, I will try to explain everything very clearly like I do in my videos.

I started out with a white base of Neenah White card stock. After die cutting a scalloped border using the Noelle dies from Winnie & Walter, I took a circle die. I wanted to create a snow globe effect so I had to do some partial die cutting. I simply grabbed my circle die and positioned it on the white card stock using washi tape. Then, I took my T-square ruler and a pencil to draw a line. This line was my guide so I knew where I had to place my cutting plates. I lined up the drawn line with my cutting plates and secured the card stock onto the plates using more washi tape. Next, I die cut the whole piece and used a crafter’s knife to finish my snow globe.

After I finished the die cutting, I stamped the penguins from the Holiday Smooches stamp set. I colored these buddies using ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers and a Pentel Aquash Brush. I have used these markers plenty of times in my latest videos, so I recommend checking those out if you’re not familiar with these markers. Then, I started creating a sequin shaker using the FUSE tool by We R Memory Keepers along with sequins from The Ton. I absolutely love that tool and it’s a must have to me!

I adhered the sequin shaker to the back of my white base using ATG by Scotch. Next, I adhered the penguins onto the shaker using foam adhesive. For the sentiment, I used the same Holiday Smooches stamp set along with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I also stamped some pool colored hearts using Lake Shores ink from Simon Says Stamp. I added extra sparkle using Diamond Stickles, a sequin here and there and my newest obsession… gems. Finally, I used Tim Holtz Clear Rock Candy Stickles to add some more dimension to the penguin’s scarves. 🙂

That’s it for now! Thank you for checking out my blog. I hope to be sharing another video with you very soon. Big hug! xo
