New Blog Design

New Blog Design

Hi! I’m here today to introduce my new blog design. The past two months, you may have noticed some small design changes here and there.

BLOG DESIGN

I worked closely with the sweet Julie Mogford on a fresh new design. She’s been so patient with me to create a logo that I simply adore. We took our time together to pick out design elements I loved and Julie just worked her magic from there! Here’s a bullet list of the different elements we used.

I cannot thank Julie enough for her hard work! Make sure to check out her recently released shop of digital goodies by clicking HERE.

NEW CATEGORIES

In my sidebar on the right, you’ll see a dropdown menu “Categories”. Here, you can search for cards easily and quickly! You can search for blog posts or cards by brand, technique, video series, and more! I’ll probably be adding more categories in the future so stay tuned. Please note that I haven’t been able to categorize each blog post yet since this is very time-consuming.

COMING UP

I’ll be back to sharing new cards and videos soon. Just taking lots of time to relax and refresh. I’m looking forward to the stamp companies’ Fall and Winter 2017/2018 Releases. It’s going to be fun! I sold some products on my Destash page to earn some extra money to spend on new crafty releases.

Which release are you looking forward to the most? So far I’ve only seen Lawn Fawn’s Fall and Winter 2017 Release. My favorite set is Beary Happy Holidays. That ice skating polar bear brings a smile to my face! 🙂 By the way, I’m looking for a new paper trimmer. Do you have any recommendations? I currently have the Fiskars Surecut but I have to replace the blades way too often lately.

So, what do you think of my new blog design? 🙂 I’m so happy with it and I wouldn’t change a thing about it. Big thanks again to the sweet Julie and of course to you – my sweet blog followers. Catch you later! Big hugs!

  1. I like the new design. Flamingos seem to be all the rage now. I took a peek at the new LF release. It will be fun to see what everyone creates. I am also curious to read what paper cutter everyone recommends. I have one that I have used for many years and now just realized it cuts a little crooked. (Duh!!)☺️

Hi. Thanks. I’ve been a fan of flamingos for years now and I’m so happy to see them almost EVERYWHERE lately. 🙂

  2. Very nice design Laura!! I love the pink/gold/flamingo look! You also have a very nice photo of yourself . Your lipstick matches with the colors of your blog, hahahaha!
I already drooled on the new Lawn Fawn release. I really want : here we go a-waddling – winter village – stitched hillside backdrop: landscape and of course the winter otter! I already have cute polar bears on ice skates, from MFT.
I use the Tonic Paper Guillotine to cut my paper (12″ size for scrapbooking and cardmaking en the smallest one for PL). I tried many different brands and this is the only one that cuts really straight and you can correct your papersizes by cutting a mm off (such small pieces are not possible with other cutters). The only disadvantage : it is big! For cardmaking the 8,5″ could also be an option.

Hey Marijke! Dank je wel. Ik ben blij om te horen dat je het nieuwe logo net zo mooi vindt als ik. De bijpassende lippenstift is eigenlijk puur toeval. Hahah!

  3. I think it turned out great! So happy about that! Thanks again for the sweet remarks 🙂 *hugs*

Big hugs right back at ya! You rock.

  4. Laura, I”m in love with your new logo! how pretty and it looks just like you! I’m glad you are relaxing. I have been in bed for the past 2 months. I’m getting better and better now and today i have starting watercoloring again. I cant wait to see your new creations! hugs, treen

Hi Treen. Thank you! I’m glad you love it as much as I do. 🙂 Sorry to hear you’ve been in bed for so long. 🙁 Good to hear you’re getting better, though! Keeping you in my thoughts and sending lots of positive vibes. Big hugs.

  5. Oh, my goodness Laura!! Your new blog design is SO YOU!! Pretty in Pink is what I’ve called it and those flamingos are simply fun!! Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner both highly recommend paper trimmers, so you could check them out. They’ve never steered me in the wrong direction before! I still use my tried and true Fiskars cutters but fear that I’ll be needing to replace them in the not-too-distant future. (It’s so hard to part with old friends and I’d rather spend the money on new stamps and dies than a new paper trimmer. LOL) I’m excited for you and your new blog and look forward to seeing what you’ve got coming up for us to see. (I’ve only seen the Lawn Fawn goodies too.) Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! ~HUGS~

Thank you so much, Maggie! Pretty in Pink is a perfect description. 🙂 I’ll definitely go and check their recommendations. I think Kristina recommends the Tonic Guillotine trimmer and Jennifer the Fiskars Surecut. Sending big hugs!

  6. This is perfectly “You” Laura! Beautiful done! I have a Fiskars Rotary Trimmer for cutting my sheets in half, then I use the Tonic (Tim Holtz) guillotine – Both serve me very well! It’s hard when there are some many choices (I’m a terrible “decider”, lol)!

    Have a great “rest & refresh” 🙂

Thanks so much, Janet! 🙂 I’ll go ahead and check out the Guillotine trimmer because I’ve heard many people recommend it. 🙂 Big hugs!

  7. Congrats on your new blog design, Laura! I can see that you spent a lot of time to get it just right and it’s really beautiful!!! I love the simplicity of your new design and the Flamingos are lovely…Great job, my friend!

Most of the time I use the Fiskars Trimmer and like you I have to replace the blade too often 🙁 I also have a small Guillotine Paper Trimmer and I just ordered the 12 x 6 Guillotine Paper Trimmer from Amazon (with the extended arm).

I don’t have it yet, but I think it’s going to work out well for my purposes ~ I hope this helps 🙂

Enjoy your summer break…you certainly deserve it! Looking forward to seeing what you have to share with us soon ~ Sending hugs, Barb xo

Hi, Barb! Thank you so much for your sweet comment! <3 Good news! I also got the 12x6 Guillotine Paper Trimmer with extended arm. It arrived today and I'm in love with it already. Such clean cuts! I'll be posting a review on it soon, so stay tuned. 🙂 Big hugs and talk to you soon, my friend. Xo

  8. WOW, I really do like the new blog. Colors are terrific and the font for the words is amazing. Have a super break. Great job 🙂

      Thanks so much, Sue! 🙂

  9. Thank you for this video. I would like to buy a new trimmer like this, as the one I use and had before I retired from teaching is 15 years old! I have two questions; is there a safety guard for the handle? How much does this cutter weigh? Thanks for any info on those two items!

    1. Author

Hi Kathy! Good questions. Unfortunately, there’s no safety guard for the handle. However, once you put the handle all the way down, it’s stuck there so you can easily store it. But if you have children over, it’s best to keep it out of reach. This cutter probably weighs about 3 pounds. 🙂 Let me know if you have more questions. I’m happy to help and I hope this info is helpful to you.

      1. Just what I needed to know…my old one had a piece that curled up and secured the handle for moving it safely, no surprising flip-ups. Three pounds is fantastic! Thank you, Laura!
