Fab-BOO-lous Halloween Card Ft. My Favorite Things

Hi, friends! It’s the weekend again – yay! Do you have any fun plans? I’m still enjoying my Summer Break until the 18th of September, so thankfully I still have some relaxing time left.

Some of you may have seen on my social media accounts that I ordered the Fab-BOO-lous Friends set by My Favorite Things ( ELH | SSS ). On Thursday I started recording and colored some of the images from the stamp set. I had so much fun! In this video I’m showing you various fun techniques to create a fun Halloween card.

I colored the images with Copic Sketch Markers. I’ve been practicing a lot and watched a lot of videos and color combination swatches. Thus far I feel like the flick or feathering technique works best for me. Surprisingly, this technique is considered the most blending technique that requires the most practice. Of course I still haven’t mastered the technique, but for now I’m enjoying playing around with it. I usually like to use two to three shades to color images and I always start out with the darkest color first and end with the lightest color – also called highlight.

Next, I did some Distress Ink blending inspired by Kristina. I came across this great blog post of hers sharing ink blending swatches. Just like her I used Mustard Seed ( ELH | SSS | AMZUS | HLM ), Peacock Feathers ( ELH | AMZUS | SSS | HLM ), Chipped Sapphire ( ELH | SSS | AMZUS | HLM ) and Black Soot ( ELH | AMZUS | SSS | HLM ) Distress Inks to create a gorgeous Halloween scene.

I thought the blended background looked really pretty, but I wanted to add an extra little oomph. I grabbed a stencil from Winnie & Walter ( W&W ) and Translucent Embossing Paste from Wendy Vecchi ( ELH | SSS ) to create a subtle but sparkly backdrop. I sprinkled on some Neutral Ultra Shimmer embossing powder by WOW ( HLM | SSS | AMZUS ) for extra glitter. I heat set it before the embossing paste was dry, so the stars ended up a bit puffy. 🙂

That’s it for now! Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you soon in another card making video. Big hugs! Xo
