Hello! As promised, I got back to card making this weekend and I had so much fun. 😄 If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you already saw a sneak peek of today’s card. I’m so excited to be sharing the full card in today’s blog post along with another video tutorial.
It’s my dad’s birthday this Tuesday, so I had to pick out a color scheme he would like. I decided to play with shades of yellow, lime and turquoise for this year’s birthday card. I thought this color scheme was perfectly suitable for these aliens and I actually enjoyed stepping out of my comfort zone. 💛
Once I masked and ink blended the background, I decided to add some stars with a stencil from Winnie & Walter and Moonstone Glimmer Paste from Tonic. I love this stuff and I should stock up since my jar is almost empty! This paste is super sparkly, applies easily and dries within 30 minutes. 💫
For the sentiment, I mixed and matched different stamps together. I embossed the greeting with Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder from Wow. Make sure that your ink is bone dry before heat embossing. Otherwise your embossing powder will stick everywhere. Even though your ink is dry, I still recommend using a tool or kitchen flour to remove any static cling before heat embossing.
To finish off this outer space birthday card, I used a Spectrum Noir Shimmer Pen to add glitter to some of the elements. I also added a coat of Tonic Crystal Glaze. Because even though this is supposed to be a masculine birthday card, a healthy dose of sparkle is ALWAYS allowed! 😉
That’s it for now. Thanks so much for stopping by. Make sure to follow me on my social media profiles to stay connected. Big hugs! 💕
