Hey everyone! The weekend has officially kicked off so I’m here with another Saturday Stamp Day card and video. In this week’s video I’m showing you how to stamp and color a background with the Magical Unicorns stamp set from My Favorite Things. A vellum overlay adds an extra touch to this project while it tones down the bright background.

Unicorns are so popular lately so I couldn’t resist using the Magical Unicorns stamp set from My Favorite Things. I used the little sun stamp from the set to stamp and color a fun background. Don’t you think that this card has a retro/vintage feeling to it? The stamped pattern and the overall color scheme look a bit vintage to me. 🙂

ssd-vellum-overlay-fullAfter stamping and coloring my background, I wanted to tone down that bright background a bit. Using a vellum overlay is a great way to do this! My friend Julia from Just One More Card taught me that. She’s such a talented card maker and a dear crafty friend of mine. In my previous Saturday Stamp Day video, I created a sentiment banner with a Copic marker. This time I created my own colored card stock with an R43 Copic marker. Then, I heat embossed a sentiment from the Magical Unicorns set from My Favorite Things.

ssd-vellum-overlay-closeupI die cut a circle out of some white card stock and Fun Foam. I doubled up these layers to create a nice and thick circle to let my unicorn stand out a little bit more. I attached the sentiment banner to that circle with the foam adhesive on the back of the unicorn. I finished off the card with some clear sequins, a Clear Wink of Stella pen and some Glossy Accents.

Happy Monday, everyone! Welcome to my third and last video for my Close To My Heart video series. Sorry I didn’t post a Saturday Stamp Day video this Saturday. My wisdom teeth got removed on Friday so I was in severe pain in the weekend. I did manage to make these two fruity notecards for you today featuring some fun Close To My Heart products. I sound a little bit different in today’s video. That’s because I’m still in pain and my cheeks are so swollen. I look like a chipmunk, lol. I’d show you a picture of my face but I’d rather not since it’s kinda embarrassing. 😉

These cards were really easy and fast to make! I wasn’t feeling well while I was making these cards so I wanted to come up with a quick and easy design and techniques. Just like last week, I did some inlaid die cutting. This is an easy and cool technique that definitely adds an extra touch to your cards.

ctmh-melonsI stamped a watermelon and a pineapple pattern with the One in a Melon stamp set from Close To My Heart. For the watermelons, I used Pixie ink for the fruity part of the watermelon and Pear ink for the green part. For the pineapple I used Amber ink for the main piece of the pineapple and Pear ink for the leaves.

ctmh-pineapplesAfter stamping and heat embossing a greeting it was time to add something extra to this card! I decided to do some more inlaid die cutting. For the inlaid die cutting pieces, I used a circle die. You could use a punch if you don’t have a die cutting machine! I die cut the circles for each design 8 times out of some colored card stock. I die cut these circles out of colored card stock because it adds some extra interest and color to this card! You could layer up different colors for a rainbow effect. Finally, I finished off my card with some clear sequins here and there to add extra sparkle.

That’s it for today! Thanks for watching my video and for reading my post. See you soon! Xo

Hey everyone! It’s Laura here and I am glad to be here with a new video series featuring Close To My Heart products. A while ago CTMH reached out to me and asked me if I would be interested in using their products. After checking out their website, I immediately knew I was up for it! Each Monday (until July 11) I will be sharing a new video featuring their products. And… there will be some giveaways, too!

NOTE: Like I mentioned in Saturday’s blog post, I got a new camera and a new set up. I created this card and photographed it before buying the new camera, so that’s why the set up is different in this picture.

In today’s video, I am creating a fun clean and simple card with a very summery color combination!

I know I say this all the time, but I truly enjoyed making this card! I did a lot of stamping and coloring for this project and those are just two things I really like doing. Before I’m moving on to the information on this card, I wanted to tell you that the yellow on these pictures is way brighter than in reality. The aqua color looks the same in the photo, but the yellow looks way brighter in this picture. The colors in the video give a better view on the actual card! It was a very bright day when I photographed this card and I think this is why the yellow looks a bit different. 🙂

ctmh-video-series-fullI started out by stamping a fun background using the Charming Cascades stamp set. I inked up the dots with Glacier ink. This ink color is a perfect soft aqua color and I really like it to create a soft background. Next, I took a piece of white paper and I masked off some stripes with leftover washi tape. I used an ink blender and Amber ink from CTMH to create yellow stripes. I was really amazed at how easily this ink blends on paper!

ctmh-furever-closeupAfter stamping and coloring the cat from the Friendly Pets set, I stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set. I stamped it with Black ink since I wanted to add a bold touch to this card and I also didn’t want the sentiment to get lost on the project. I die cut a circle out of the masked striped pattern and I adhered it to the card with foam adhesive. After adding some white thread to the card, I of course needed to add some little touches of sparkle on this card. So I used the Close To My Heart Calypso Sequins and the Bitty Sparkles to add extra bling bling. What I like about these sequins is that they have adhesive on the back so there’s no need to mess around with other liquid adhesive. Fast and easy! 🙂
