Hi, friends! It’s been a while since I’ve shared a card but I’m happy to be back with a quick and easy Christmas card for Taheerah’s Advent Calendar Extravaganza! Join in the fun every day at taheerah-atchia.com to see what special surprises await behind the door!

For my project, I used the Wooly Winter set from Mama Elephant with a stencil, embossing paste and glitter (eek!!!!). This is the perfect combo for a quick and easy holiday card.

I started out by stamping these wooly critters with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on my favorite white card stock. Next, I die cut the sheep with the coordinating dies. I couldn’t find a right sentiment to match with the Wooly Friends set, but then I grabbed the Winter Wonderland set from Winnie & Walter. I simply love the font of that greeting! I stamped it with the Wow! Ultra Slow Drying Embossing ink pad and sprinkled on the Metallic Gold Rich Sparkle powder. The sparkle you get with this embossing powder is gorgeous!

Since I was short on time (I’m always keeping busy, lots of stuff to do for college!) I wanted to create a clean and simple card but I still wanted to add some more holiday sparkle to this project. I simply grabbed a stencil from Winnie & Walter and covered my sentiment with painter’s tape. Then, I used white Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste to create fun snow. I really like how fluffy the snow looks like! I thought it needed an extra oomph so I went ahead and sprinkled on some Rock Candy Glitter from Tim Holtz. Seriously, glitter was everywhere! EVERYWHERE! In my eyes, on my clothes, on the floor! I had to vacuum the whole room after working with this stuff, lol. Thankfully the embossing paste makes sure that the glitter sticks and stays put.

Finally, I finished off my project with some sparkle and shine. I adhered a couple of Pretty Pink Posh sequins (today’s sponsor of the Advent Calendar Extravaganza) and added a coat of Glossy Accents to some of the images.

It’s not a party without a prize – and with prizes every day there are several chances to win! Today’s prize is generously supplied by Pretty Pink Posh so you’ll definitely want to win! Simply leave a comment on this post – then head back to taheerah-atchia.com and leave a comment there too! You must leave a comment on Taheerah’s blog as well as mine in order to be eligible to win! Don’t forget to grab the other surprise destinations from Taheerah’s blog and head over to them to leave comments there as well to improve your odds even more! You have until 23:59 EST on 31st December 2016 to enter.

That’s it for now! Thank you for your support, sweet emails and cards. I love reading your sweet messages and they always make me *so* happy. Sending big hugs and enjoy the holiday season!

Happy Saturday, everybody! While I was browsing through my stamps, I saw the Mermaid For You stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I only used it once this far, so I decided to pull it out again to create a fun mermaid card. Lots of ideas popped into my head when I was looking at the set. I finally decided I wanted to make a dreamy mermaid tag with a stencil, embossing paste and glitter.

I just love how dreamy and sparkly the mermaid tag looks! The best part? It wasn’t even that hard to make. Simply die cut a tag or any other shape and grab the Madison stencil from Winnie & Walter. I created my own colored embossing paste with white embossing paste from Wendy Vecchi with three different Distress Ink colors. After creating my ombré pattern, I added a little bit of Clear Rock Candy glitter from Tim Holtz.

waving-hello-full-cardNext, I colored a couple of images from the Mermaid for You set from Lawn Fawn. I did some really basic and easy coloring with the Copic Sketch Markers. Be sure to watch the video for more tips on how to do some fast but pretty coloring!

waving-hello-close-upLately, I’m really into vellum and banners. So for today’s project I decided to combine these two! I heat embossed a gold sentiment with Metallic Gold Rich Sparkle from WOW on a piece of vellum. After assembling the card, I added some sparkle here and there with some pretty sequins from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards and with some clear sequins from The Ton.

That’s it for this week’s Saturday Stamp Day video. Thanks so much for watching. See you soon! Xo

Hi! I am back again with a brand new Saturday Stamp Day card and video. In today’s video I am creating a fresh and fruity card with Create A Smile Stamps. Lately, I just love to mix yellow, pink and peach colors on my cards. Another thing I like lately is wood veneer shapes!

I started out by ink blending the Leaf Effect stencil from Winnie & Walter on some white paper. Because the shape of the leaves reminded me of lemons, I used Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink. This made sure that my fresh and fruity background matched with the stamped images from the Served Up stamp set from Create A Smile Stamps.

ssd-treat-yourself-full-cardI am determined to get better at Copic Coloring. So after lots of practicing and watching tons of YouTube videos, I switched up my technique. Nowadays I like to start out with my darkest color to add my first layer of shading. Then, I use the medium toned color to blend out the darkest shading. Next, I use the lightest color to blend everything together and finally I go back to that dark color to add extra pops of shading. I only used three colors for the hippo. When I want to do some basic coloring, I use only two markers. I use the darkest marker to add the shading first, then I blend it out with the lightest marker and finally I go back to that darkest color to add more shading.

IMG_0680I had no idea where I was going with this card, so I just played with the goodies I had on my desk. After adhering my hippo to a die cut circle, I created a matching banner by scribbling the RV13 Copic marker on some white paper. I heat embossed a sentiment on there from the Served Up stamp set from Create A Smile. As soon as I finished my main element of the card, I started assembling everything together.

I adhered a strip of yellow woodgrain patterned paper to some white card stock. Then, I created some extra interest behind and around the circle. I mixed some wood veneer shapes with lovely sequins from the Fruit Sorbet mix from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards. I really like to use wood veneer lately and I especially love how it looks paired with sequins. 🙂

That’s it for now. Thanks so much for watching my video. See you soon! Xo

Hey everyone! It’s Laura here and I am glad to be here with a new video series featuring Close To My Heart products. A while ago CTMH reached out to me and asked me if I would be interested in using their products. After checking out their website, I immediately knew I was up for it! Each Monday (until July 11) I will be sharing a new video featuring their products. And… there will be some giveaways, too!

NOTE: Like I mentioned in Saturday’s blog post, I got a new camera and a new set up. I created this card and photographed it before buying the new camera, so that’s why the set up is different in this picture.

In today’s video, I am creating a fun clean and simple card with a very summery color combination!

I know I say this all the time, but I truly enjoyed making this card! I did a lot of stamping and coloring for this project and those are just two things I really like doing. Before I’m moving on to the information on this card, I wanted to tell you that the yellow on these pictures is way brighter than in reality. The aqua color looks the same in the photo, but the yellow looks way brighter in this picture. The colors in the video give a better view on the actual card! It was a very bright day when I photographed this card and I think this is why the yellow looks a bit different. 🙂

ctmh-video-series-fullI started out by stamping a fun background using the Charming Cascades stamp set. I inked up the dots with Glacier ink. This ink color is a perfect soft aqua color and I really like it to create a soft background. Next, I took a piece of white paper and I masked off some stripes with leftover washi tape. I used an ink blender and Amber ink from CTMH to create yellow stripes. I was really amazed at how easily this ink blends on paper!

ctmh-furever-closeupAfter stamping and coloring the cat from the Friendly Pets set, I stamped a sentiment from the same stamp set. I stamped it with Black ink since I wanted to add a bold touch to this card and I also didn’t want the sentiment to get lost on the project. I die cut a circle out of the masked striped pattern and I adhered it to the card with foam adhesive. After adding some white thread to the card, I of course needed to add some little touches of sparkle on this card. So I used the Close To My Heart Calypso Sequins and the Bitty Sparkles to add extra bling bling. What I like about these sequins is that they have adhesive on the back so there’s no need to mess around with other liquid adhesive. Fast and easy! 🙂

Onto the giveaway! CTMH has been very generous and offered a giveaway. You could win a prize pack including the Friendly Pets stamp set + one acrylic block + one ink pad. Close To My Heart is a big fan of Instagram so this is an Instagram exclusive giveaway. Simply like my latest post on Instagram (the picture of this card), follow CTMH and my profile on Instagram and tag a friend in the giveaway post to earn another entry. Good luck and thanks for checking today’s post! 🙂
