Hello & Christmas in September

Hello, friends! I am excited to announce that I’m guest designing for WOW! Embossing Powder. WOW has been close to my heart for some years now so of course I said yes to the offer! In total, I’ll be sharing two cards in this blog post. Both cards have videos. Also, be sure to check out the WOW! Embossing Powder blog for more inspiration.

In the first video I am creating a modern card using the Flights of Fancy stamp set along with some white and clear embossing powder.

DSC00595The Flights of Fancy set is simply stunning. I love the versatility of this set since you can use these images as feathers and leaves. First I heat embossed the leaves/feathers using white embossing powder. The Opaque Bright White embossing powder is my favorite one, by the way. After heat setting the powder, I did some simple masking with painters tape. I chose a modern color scheme and sticked to pink, purple and mint. I like to use Distress Inks for the blending but regular dye ink works great as well!

DSC00599When I planned this card, I knew I wanted a glossy and dimensional sentiment. I simply die cut a hello greeting out of some black card stock, pressed my Versamark ink pad on there and sprinkled on clear embossing powder. After heat setting it, you’ll end up with a very pretty and glossy looking sentiment that will pop! To finish off my card, I used sequins from The Ton along with some die cut hearts.

For my second card and video, I created a non-traditional holiday card using soft pinks and mint colors. The Let it Snow stamp set from WOW along with Sugar Plum embossing powder makes it easy!

DSC00614I started out by creating a snowy background using the Let it Snow stamp set and the beautiful Sugar Plum embossing powder. The Sugar Plum embossing powder is so pretty and cute! It’s light pink and it has silver glitters in it, too! Since this is a Christmas card, I needed some fun trees. I foiled the trees using Silver Fab Foil and Bonding Powder. I did that a bit off screen in the video (I’m so sorry about that!) so I promised to link to a video where I’m doing the same technique. Click HERE to check out that video. Again, I’m sorry!

DSC00617I created a vellum banner for this card using Black Glint embossing powder. Finally, I finished off the project by adhering lots of sequins from The Ton. I sticked to the soft and non-traditional color scheme by adding light pink and mint sequins. 🙂

How would you like to win the Let it Snow + Flights of Fancy stamp set AND the Black Glint + Sugar Plum embossing powder AND the Bonding Powder + Silver Fab Foil? 🙂 Simply leave a comment on this blog post and leave another comment on my blog post over at the WOW! 5. DELIGHTFUL cards Laura – BOTH are BEAUTIFUL designs and such lovely colours!!!
Your Sugar Plum / Cracked Pistachio makes for a GORGEOUS Christmas, LOVE the colour combo, LOVE the SPARKLE and LOVE the background, your vellum sentiment really POPS too, so I really should say that I LOVE IT ALL!!!
I really enjoyed your videos too, learnt a lot along the way => THANK YOU 🙂
Some of the clever ideas that struck a chord for me today included the dryer sheets with your sentiment die cutting then heat embossing (I confess I was surprised they didn’t stay stuck in there); tapping off your sentiment before adhering in place (I struggle with the little globs oozing out); bonding powder + foil, EXCITING to see you were able to blend over the foiled edges; watercolour paper for distress ink blending, COOL, that might be why I struggle with getting a good blend, will definitely try it next time; extra heat for the glitter embossing powder, I didn’t consider that the glitter might rub off it it wasn’t complete, no-one had mentioned it to me so I will ask how my previous cards have survived the mail!!!
